Internet Gaming Disorder
Official criteria used by the DSM-5 for internet gaming disorder:
Preoccupation with gaming
Withdrawal Symptoms (irritability, anger, depression anxiety , restlessness, or sadness ) when they can not game
Tolerance for gaming or excitement received by games
Unsuccessful attempts to cut down gaming
Gives up other activities to game
Continues despite problems with gaming
Deceives or covers up gaming
Escapes negative moods by gaming
Risks or loses relationships or opportunities
Symptoms Of Gaming Abuse
Emotional Symptoms:
Mood shifts
Withdrawal Symptoms
Feelings of restlessness and /or irritability when unable to play
Preoccupation with thoughts of previous online activity or anticipation of the next online session
Lying to family members or friends regarding the amount of time spent playing
Relationship Symptoms:
Isolation from others in order to spend more time gaming
Conflicts with others
Physical Symptoms:
Fatigue
Migraines due to intense concentration or eye stain
Carpel tunnel syndrome caused by overuse of a controller or computer mouse
Poor personal hygiene
